Lagido’s work as a choreographer has a multidisciplinary approach in which she addresses issues related to Identity and Biography. One recurrent theme is the idea of a body in constant breakdown. The presence of video has also been a medium she strongly explores, as in "BB2", "Ugly" or "Self". From her choreographic work she stands out the solo "notforgetnotforgive" (1999) and her group piece "Monster" (2009), and her last piece, 50 Toneladas (2016)

She created: "Improvisação" (1988) in partnership with Francisco Camacho and Paulo Abreu; "O diâmetro e o raio dum contrabaixo" (1989) in collaboration with Francisco Camacho; "Não há baile sem senão" (1998) with EIRA’s training group; "Lilith" (1998, CCB, Black Box) solo for Francisco Camacho under the program "Espiões, agentes duplos e caracteres suspeitos" in partnership with Filipa Francisco and João Galante; "Mercedes Benze-te" (1999); "notforgetnotforgive" (1999, Festival Danças na Cidade); "BB (2000); "Histórias que a minha mãe nunca me contou" (2000, Festival X); "Sporting Decadance" (2000, Festival Citemor) in partnership with Francisco Camacho; "Dis Nasti Dog" (2001, Festival Danças na Cidade) a concert/performance with João Galante and Vítor Rua; "Ugly" (2003, Festival Temps d'images, Festival Citemor); "BB" (2001, Acarte); "I want to be a porn star or “A casa do jogo" (2004, Festival Way, LUX); BB2 (2004, Serralves em Festa; "Self" (2004, Casa dos dias d' Água), "WW" (2007, Festival Temps d'images) in partnership with João Manuel de Oliveira and Sara Vaz, "Monster" (2009, EIRA ) a piece for 13 performers, “The Importance of Nothing” (2011, Teatro Maria Matos, Festival SuperStereo Demonstration), “A room full of dirt” (2012, Negócio.ZDB, Festival Temps d'images, sponsored by FCG), “Ro.ger” (2014, Festival Temps d'images and “50 Toneladas”. In 2018 she created Jungle Red. and from 2019 until 2021 she is developing the project Mina, wich became a film and a feminist collective.
Carlota Lagido started her career as a dancer at the Lisbon Dance Company in 1987, where she worked with Mark Haim and Rui Horta. From her wide experience as a dancer, she stands out the work and close collaboration with the Portuguese choreographer Francisco Camacho (with whom she worked from 1989 to 2011), Joana Providência (Mecanismos) and Meg Stuart with whom she travelled the world with the piece Disfigure Study. Since 1989, she also has been working as a costume designer for dance and theatre pieces of Vera Mantero, Meg Stuart, Francisco Camacho, João Fiadeiro, Lucia Sigalho, Filipa Francisco, Clara Andermatt, João Galante, Nuno M. Cardoso, Margarida Mestre, Aldara Bizarro, Paulo Ribeiro, Amélia Bentes, Tiago Cadete, Jonas&Lander and Rui Catalão.
In 1979, she started her training in dance with Margarida de Abreu. In 1981 she joined the Ballet Gulbenkian’s training program. In 1984 she travelled to New York to study classic and contemporary dance techniques at Peridance Center and Steps Studio. She also studied drawing at the New York Academy of Arts. She is currently enrolled at the Theatre’s Master in Stage Design at the Lisbon Theatre and Cinema High School. She obtaine a post-graduation in Set and Costume Design by ESTC in Lisbon.

She also works in experimental video art, having her works "Charlotte is Burning" presented in Sensurround, in Lisbon and "self-portrait on a train" selected for the Festival VAFA in Macau. She codirected the film Mina along with Francisca Manuel in 2021 and filmed the documentary Utopia 2020, about the collective of artists Apneia Colectiva in 2021. She does illustration works, for books and magazines, such as "o livro das coisas breves" by F.S.Hill and several participations with the magazine Flanzine.

She teaches several workshops and classes of contemporary dance and set design.

She was an associated artistic member at Eira, where she developed an Atelier of Composition and Choreography, and was a co programmer of the space activities. In 2015 she was an residencie artist at Olga Roriz Company. She is associated with Lugar do Meio to the collective of artists Apneia Colectiva.

During 2016/2017 she founded with Antoine Pimentel the Artistic Residencies Space O LUGAR DO MEIO, in the country side of Coimbra in Portugal. In 2020 O LUGAR DO MEIO moved to the small village of Alfafar .
